Popis: Organometallic functional groups containing two atoms of the same metal and carbon atom of the organic ligand or framework are considered with the emphasis on their synthetic origin and possible reactivity pattern. Basic attention is devoted to the polynuclear complexes derived from polyynil and polyyinediyl metal containing species leading to the systems including η2-alkyne, μ-acetylide, μ-cumulenylidene, μ3-alkylidyne, and μ3-propargylidene coordination modes. Cluster-formation and cluster transformations often having a unique character are highlighted. The other important aspect is the structural isomerism and reactivity of the sandwiches based on aromatic and heteroaromatic ligands. Potential applications of the compounds with such organic functional groups in catalysis, materials chemistry, photochemistry, and other applied fields are mentioned throughout the chapter.
