Popis: Nonulcer dyspepsia is a common condition. From earlier studies we know that the incidence of Helicobactor pylori in dyspeptic patients in Iceland is 78% [1]. Until recently no therapy proven effective for these patients [5]. A Finnish study of sucralfate has shown some effect [2], but in a similar study recently concluded we found no difference between sucralfate and placebo. Short-term studies with bismuth subcitrate (De-Nol) and metronidazol have shown some effect [3, 4]. It therefore seemed pertinent to do a study with longer follow-up of these drugs. The Icelandic nonulcer dyspepsia Helicobactor pylori study was a collaborative study done at three hospitals in Reykjavik.
