Popis: Summary. The theory of rotating liquid masses under the action of centrifugal and surface tensional forces is discussed. The theory is then compared with an interferogram of a lunar globule published by Tolansky. The comparison gives strong support for the rotational hypothesis for the formation of the smooth elongated shapes of lunar globules. It is further suggested that many of the apparently perfect spheres whose photographs have appeared in the literature are in fact not spheres, but oblate objects which, on a flat surface, appear circular when photographed from above. The advantages of the use of interferometry which gives sets of coordinates in three dimensions for points on the surfaces of globules are emphasized.
