The problem of concentrating antiprotons and positrons into a high energy density form is analyzed from the viewpoint of the ‘‘containerless’’ condensation of cluster ions of hydrogen in ion traps using ion‐neutral association. The constraints that lead to the proposed method and the available ion‐neutral association channels are discussed. It is found that the condensation method may require the use of cold neutral hydrogen dimers. It is concluded that the condensation to produce the first seed (critically sized) cluster ions need only be done once in order to surmount the problems associated with ‘‘containerless’’ condensation. |
