Three main structural and sedimentary provinces characterize the Nile Cone. A western domain shows a network of tightly meandering distributary channels. A central province displays numerous huge growth faults, as well as distributary channels and characteristic sedimentary structures. In both areas, widespread layers of debris-flows are present. Finally an eastern province is the locus of intense active faulting. Important salt diapirism ascends along many of the faults. |
