Popis: In order for people with disabilities to socialize and contribute to the economy, they should be able to use the streets comfortably. Atakum, one of the central districts of Samsun, has a significant amount of disabled and elderly population. This study aims to evaluate Atakum's streets in terms of disabled comfort and to determine the most suitable routes for the disabled people. The busiest routes of the district were selected as samples and the pavements were classified according to their qualities. In addition, "barrier-free routes" were determined according to the criteria for disabled comfort, and a disabled atlas prepared. The data sources of the study are field studies, interviews, and secondary data. Barrier-free routes were determined by the suitability analysis according to the locations of the social facilities in the district. The proportion of good quality pavements on selected routes in Atakum are 12% on Atatürk Boulevard, 10% on İsmet İnönü Boulevard, and It is 9% on Cağaloğlu Street. It has been determined that the pavement ramps at 314 points on these routes are missing or unusable. By evaluating their locations and features, 16 unobstructed routes, 8 main, and 8 intermediate routes extending from the inner parts of the district to the coast were determined. The problems on the sample routes and the required improvements on the barrier-free routes were determined.
