Dynamic response of the linear motor feed drives with Magneto-rheological fluid damper

Popis: With the development of the high speed and high precision machines, the linear feed drive system has been developing very fast during the last two decades. Compared with the traditional ball screw feed drive, the linear motor feed drive system eliminates all mid- transmission mechanism and exhibits the properties of high velocity, high acceleration, long stroke, fast dynamic response and etc. However, because of the lack of necessary damping links, the linear motor feed drive is highly sensitive to the changes in workpiece mass or external force disturbance and limits the further improvement of the stability. In oder to overcome the demerit of linear feed system, the high speed and high precision linear motor feed drive equipped with Magnetorheological fluid (MRF) damper is designed and the acceleration feedforward P-PI Controller is also deveoped for the linear motor feed drive with MRF damping control. The dynamic response of the feed drive with and without MRF damping is simulated with MATLAB Simulink, the influence of variation of the parameters and the changes of moving mass are also studied.
