Popis: | The Selenga River, which is the largest tributary of Lake Baikal, remarkably affects the thermal and hydro geochemical regimes of the near delta shallow water area of the Selenga River and the activity of plankton and organisms inhabiting bottom sediments in this area of the lake [1–3]. The influx of solid runoff compo nents into the lake, their mechanical differentiation, and deposition control the sedimentation patterns in the shallow water and adjacent open lake areas [4], the burial and decomposition conditions of the allochtho nous and autochthonous organic detritus, and the intensity of early diagenesis of the bottom deposits. |
