Fatigue crack propagation tests were performed on compact tension specimens of AISI 316 steel, in the elastic-plastic and plastic regions. The parameter AJ was chosen to characterize propagation. Results show that there is a Paris law type correlation between propagation rate and AJ. An effect on propagation rate, which is attributed to the R = P m i n /P m a x ratio, has been noted. A numerical verification of the applicability of the AJ concept was determined by use of a theoretical equation. These results were compared with experimental results. |
