Electrical harmonic estimation and elimination are the crucial problem for researchers and practitioners in electrical power systems. Electrical harmonics can be modeled as unwanted and disruptive waveform signals that affect the energy quality because of the heating, burning, and other negative effects on electrical systems. In literature, several methods based on metaheuristic algorithms have been successively reported for electrical harmonic estimation. In this chapter, a novel estimation approach based on the bat algorithm have been proposed for amplitude and phase estimation of electrical harmonics in power systems. The achieved results of the proposed approach have been compared and analysed in terms of rapid and accurate harmonic estimation. The results show that the proposed approach based on the bat algorithm shows good performance to design suitable harmonic elimination filters for improving power quality. |
