Symptomatic gallbladder disease is one of the most common conditions encountered by the gastrointestinal endoscopist. Common gallstone related diseases include acute cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, cholangitis, and gallstone pancreatitis. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) has an important role in the management of gallstone-related diseases, and its indications have become broader with advancements in technology and minimally invasive techniques. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided treatment for acute cholecystitis is an emerging therapy, particularly for patients who are poor candidates for surgery. This chapter will focus on the endoscopic management of cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, and gallstone pancreatitis. |
