| Popis: | This paper discusses the role of the observational method in controlling the behaviour of retaining walls and providing opportunities for savings or the prevention of construction hazards. The method is standardized in Eurocode 7 as one of the defining principles of geotechnical design and is a viable verification approach for limit states. However, in Bulgaria the rate of its application hardly exceeds 10-15% of all the implemented building projects. The advantages of the method will be demonstrated using a specific building site as a real life example. |
