On the infra-red behaviour of the gluon vacuum polarization in axial gauge

Popis: We study the self-consistency of the integral equation of Baker, Ball and Zachariasen for the gluon propagapator in axial gauge. The ansatz for a solution which contains an infra-red double pole gives an inconsistency if the gauge parameter,(p·n)2/n2, is unequal to zero. In addition we find that interchanging the limiting procedurep·n→0 and the renormalization procedure gives different results at the valuep·n=0.
