In order to optimize the scheduled procedure of multi-pass hot rolling process, effects of process parameters on blank section size and austenite evolution during hot rolling should be investigated primarily. A set of mathematical models were established based on the existing models presented by literatures. These models are capable of describing the austenite grain growth during re-heating process, the austenite grain evolution during hot rolling and inter-pass schedule time. Then these models were coupled into thermo-mechanical simulation of multi-pass hot rolling process though user subroutines provided by commercial FEM solver ABAQUS/Explicit. The results show that the extent of austenite grain refinement in the H-shape metal web, under different rolling condition, is mainly dependent on the value of accumulative equivalent plastic strain of the scheduled multi-pass rolling process. |
