Synthesis under high hydrogen pressure and IR study of hydrogen-potassium-GICs

Popis: KC 8 H 2 and KC 8 KH 2 systems were studied under hydrogen pressures up to 2000 atm in the temperature range 78–700 K. It was shown that stage 2 KH 0.6 C 8 and stage 1 KH 0.8 C 4 compounds, which are stable under ambient conditions can reversibly adsorb additional amount of hydrogen, so under pressures above 500 atm and temperatures about 78 K hydrogen contents reach 3–4 H/1 K for both compounds. IR study of the residual compound KH 0.8 C 4 in comparison with oxygen compound KO x C 4 has shown similarities in the structure and bonding in these compounds.
