To determine the extent of inappropriate admissions in a medical emergency department and to investigate factors related to variations in appropriateness, a random sample of 371 hospital records were prospectively examined. We used and explicit criteria method (the A.E.P.). Our data show that about one fourth of the admissions is probably inappropriate. |
