Popis: Selective laser sintering (SLS) has been proved to be a reliable and robust additive manufacturing technology for producing different categories of biomedical devices. The SLS system has a great advantage of being tailored to a wide range of requirements through the adjustment of laser and process parameters. In terms of processable materials, SLS has great strength in manufacturing devices from a wide range of polymers while its capability to process ceramics and composite powders is limited. This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of the potential of SLS technology in manufacturing of biomedical devices, including a range of materials, and its application in tissue engineering, medical implants, anatomical models and drug delivery devices. Future trends and challenges in using this technology are also outlined.
