| Popis: | The chapter provides a brief history of coal mine explosions. Recorded number of explosions is 624 but it is estimated that these were more than 300 unrecorded explosions. Total number of death in US exceeds 8000. The commercial exploitation of coal mine methane is briefly described. Enhanced gas production by carbon dioxide flooding is also discussed. |
