A New Digital Control Technique for Solar Energy Harvesting Systems in DC Micro-Grids

Popis: In this paper, a novel control scheme is proposed to improve the performance of DC-optimizers for harvesting solar energy in a DC-microgrid. The focus of this paper is to implement a reliable and efficient structure to harvest the maximum power from solar panels. In order to increase the efficiency of the system, a control scheme is proposed that provides zero voltage switching (ZVS) capability. ZVS can significantly eliminate switching losses and provide a highly efficient and reliable operation for the DC-optimizer. Implementing ZVS increases the inductor current ripple dramatically in the proposed system. Therefore, an interleaved structure is used which is able to reduce the input current ripple through phase shifting of the inductor currents in the system. The performance of the proposed techniques is verified through simulation and experiments.
