Popis: | Ten cisplatin-derived platinum(II) complexes of thiones having the general formula, cis-[Pt(NH3)2(Thione)2](NO3)2 have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and NMR (1H & 13C) methods. The spectroscopic data is in agreement with the coordination of thiones to platinum(II). The in vitro cytotoxic properties of all these complexes have been investigated against three human cancer cell lines, which include; A549 (lung carcinoma), MCF-7 (breast carcinoma) and HTC15 (colon cancer) and compared to the therapeutically used anticancer agents, cisplatin and carboplatin. The in vitro cytotoxicities in several cases are higher than carboplatin but in all cases are lower than cisplatin. Docking studies are carried out to understand the possible binding mode of interaction of these compounds with DNA. |
