The chapter demonstrated an effort toward water resilience facilitated through an integrated approach to lake restoration and management at the physical and institutional level. Striving for water resilience is a continuous and adaptive process where healthy urban lakes are vital for building water resilience in a city. The water generation and storage in the lakes are sufficed with the regular wastewater inflow that requires proper treatment for a healthy lake ecosystem. Few primary treatment techniques that are easy and economical for the local community to implement along with training them are demonstrated in the project. Furthermore, with the integrated activities, advanced bio-techniques of treatments may be tried. The project focused at the lake and the shore scale; however, rainwater management of the lake basin is also important to restore a lake. The spatial distribution of the lakes across the city reflects a watershed of a system of lakes. Managing a system of lakes requires integrating the basin-level rainwater management in the local area planning and development. |
