Popis:	The formation of cis-and trans-epoxy-alcohols by treatment of steroidal epoxy-ketones with sodium borohydride is analysed in terms of the direction of attack on the corresponding unsubstituted ketones, and the steric hindrance exerted by the epoxide ring.
