Popis: We experienced a case of esophago-bronchial fistula caused by large esophageal ulcer of unknown origin successfully cured by total thoracic esophagectomy followed by lower lobectomy of the right lung. A 52-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of incurable esophageal ulcer. The patient was diagnosed as having an esophago-bronchial fistula by esophagography. Total thoracic esophagectomy with cervical esophago-gastrostomy was performed. After the discharge, hemoptysis occurred. The patient was re-admitted and the right lower lobe of the lung was resected combined with previous remnant fistula. This case was suspected of acquired esophago-brochial fistula from severe inflammation around the fistula. It is thought that such cases of esophago-bronchial fistula caused by large esophageal ulcer as this case may demand both total thoracic esophagectomy and lobectomy of the lung.
