Popis: In this chapter, the authors share some of the findings from their research focusing on the influence personal writing can have on the teaching of writing. Specifically, they share a story of one primary school teacher’s personal writing practices, and how personal writing can be reflected upon to influence the teaching of writing. It has been argued that participating as a writer leads to increased levels of overall awareness of the writing process and that teachers’ engagement with writing, regardless of the form or genre, is likely to increase their effectiveness as teachers of writing. Writing is about crafting meaning in the form of textual representations. Teachers who write and who see themselves as writers are able to draw on their own writing experiences and engage in conversations that are beyond instructional, to talk with students about what it feels like to be a writer.
