Popis: | Research on host–guest chemistry enhances the bioavailability of the guest molecules by ‘remediation processes. For that purpose, evaluating the physicochemical properties of inclusion complexes (ICs, e.g. β-cyclodextrin as host and an ionic liquid as a guest) is necessary and of value for research in green chemistry. In this work, series of the novel nitro substituted imidazolium-based positional (ortho, meta, para) isomeric ionic liquids (ILs) have been synthesized, and their ICs with β-CD, characterized by (1H NMR, NMR titration, 2D-ROESY, FT-IR) spectroscopic techniques. Conductivity measurements were carried out to understand the mobility of the ions in these complexes, and SEM was used to describe their morphological changes. Further, the structural and positional effect on properties was examined using UV–Vis, PXRD, DSC, and controlled release with the help of thermogravimetric analysis. Furthermore, the potential application of ICs is explored for the desulfurization of model fuel consisting of dibenzothiophene. The findings of this work provide the proof of concept that studied nitro substituted imidazolium-based ILs-β-CD host–guest complexes should act as a potential candidate for desulfurization of fuel. |
