FEATURES OF STUDENTS’ IDEAS ABOUT THE FUTURE IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITALIZATION

Popis: An attempt was made to describe the ideas of students about thefuture in the context of accelerated digitalization associated with the worldwidepandemic of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19. The analysis of modernresearch on time as a category of psychology was given; attention is focused onrethinking the significance of ideas about the future in the context of digitalization.The works of scientists describing the image of the future and the features of itsconstruction were studied; the formation of the image of the future was consideredfrom the standpoint of the I.V. Abakumova’s semantic approach. The object ofthe study was 74 students aged 18 to 22 years. The following techniques wereused: unfinished sentences “Ideas about the future” modified by E.M. Azarko andN.E. Komerova; Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) by P. Zimbardo;methodology “Value Orientations” by M. Rokich; Life-Purpose Orientations testby D. A. Leontiev; Spearman’s rank correlation by C. Spearman. It is shown thatstudents’ ideas about the future are formed from expressed positive emotionalassessment of the future, it is shown that students’ ideas about the future areformed from expressed positive emotional assessment of the future, internal locusof control (self); achievement of personal goals; expectations of professionalsuccess, self-realization, personal happiness; the predictors are the assessmentof experience and characteristics of oneself in the past and present. The author’sversion of the scheme of determinants of ideas about the future is proposed for thefirst time.
