Popis:	1. The molecular axes of the polarizability ellipsoids of some five-membered cyclic imides were determined and it was shown that they are quite different from the values calculated by the additive scheme. 2. The N-Cl and N-Br bonds are characterized by a substantial electron lability, and their polarizability ellipsoids lack axial symmetry.
