Inspecting refractories in an insulated glass furnace

Popis: An assessment was made of changes in the load-bearing refractories of the tank of a furnace retrofitted with thermal insulation and of the influence of the working conditions on the corrosion resistance of the refractories. The refractories consisted of dinas and chamotte. The results of the petrographic analysis confirmed that the use of thermal insulation did not cause serious alterations in refractory structure and that the use of thermal insulation in glass furnaces with outputs of 70 tons or more per day ensured a significant savings in fuel.
