Varicose veins are a common condition affecting a third of the population. Surgery has for a long time been the main treatment option. Over the past decade though, endovenous thermal ablation techniques have been introduced which have changed the management landscape of the disease. These are, however, often associated with discomfort during the injection of tumescent anaesthesia and the thermal treatment itself as well as potential complications from thermal injury. Non-thermal, non-tumescent (NTNT) technology can potentially avoid these problems. Vein sealing, using cyanoacrylate adhesive, is one such method. The technique and results from early clinical trials are discussed. |
