Popis: | The nonlinear dependence of the transport equations on solute concentration leads to different permeabilities in the forward and backward directions in an inhomogeneous solid layer. The asymmetry is calculated for the case of hydrogen diffusion through metal, when at least two mechanisms of nonlinearity must be taken into account: the H2 dissociation at the surface and saturation effects. It is shown that the dissociative nonlinearity itself does not cause any significant asymmetry, in spite of qualitative expectations, while the permeability asymmetry may occur to be strong when saturation effects are considerable. |
