Popis: Magnetisation measurements have been made using biaxial-stress apparatus on a thin martensitic-steel disc. To an approximation, the effect of tension in the field direction (Sx) has an equivalent effect on the magnetic properties to a perpendicular compression (−Sy), so that the effective stress, Seff=Sx−Sy. Departures from this relationship may be due to changes in coercivity with orientation of effective easy axes. A reversal mechanism more like coherent rotation or nucleation rather than pinning can account for these deviations.
