The role of the Dayak Uud Danum women in shifting cultivation

Popis: Shifting cultivation is an agricultural activity to produce the food and cultural needs of the Dayak people living in Kalimantan. Both men and women carry out the activities. The purpose of the study was to determine the role of the Uud Danum Dayak women in each stage of shifting cultivation activities to meet the family’s food needs. The study used a qualitative approach, and data collection was carried out by participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results showed that there were 12 stages in shifting cultivation activities of the Uud Danum Dayak community, where women played an active role in almost all stages of the activity. The active role of the Uud Danum Dayak women is in the form of physical involvement and determining the decision to farm.
