Popis:	The article deals with the loss of relevance of religion and churches facing the social changes in the 21st century and shows how the constitutional law of the religious institution are in a process of change. The principles of neutrality and parity are dealt with on the basis of practical use, i. e. cases such as the discussion about the headscarf or the Islamic religion as subject at school. Subsequently, constitutional expectations towards the churches are presented and plausibility as a new criterion for the interpretation of the right of selfdetermination of religious communities according to art. 140 GG according to art. 137 paragraph 3 WRV introduced. The comprehensibility of churches announcements and actions also serves the acceptance of religious concerns of society. This is explained in regards to church funding, church labour law and religious presence in education exemplary. Necessary corrections of systemic deficits in the Evangelical and Catholic Church are shown finally.
