Popis: A solvent-free scintillation medium (Ready Cap TM — Beckman) for nonvolatile microvolume samples is now available for use in liquid scintillation counters (LSC). Although its applications have limitations, it has advantages over traditional solvents by being a limited fire hazard, convenient to use, and having lower disposal costs. The spectral light output from this scintillator is shifted versus that of liquid scintillators, and instrument settings may need to be adjusted from normal energy presets. This solid support system permits the assay of beta emitters in whole blood without extremes of sample preparation usually needed.
