Effect of fillers on the polymerization of oligoesteracrylates during the gelation of polyvinylchloride plastisols

Popis: The effect of fillers on the polymerization of triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate and α,ω-bis-(trimethacrylpentaerythrityl) adipate during the gelation of PVC plastisols has been studied by differential thermal analysis. Independently of the compatibility between PVC and the oligoacrylate, a part of the oligomer is selectively adsorbed by the filler surface during the filling of the plastisol. As a result of this the local concentration of the methacrylic groups close to the filler particles is increased and, as a consequence, the polymerization of the adsorbed oligoesteracrylate molecules occurs at lower temperatures than it does in the unfilled plastisol.
