This paper summarises major design features and manufacturing aspects of the modular cryo pump now being installed. The cryo feed and the LN2 shielding of the module connections are described in detail. The cryo pump is exposed to considerable magnetic flux changes during major plasma disruptions. Upper limits of the transients are estimated for the thermal energy quench and subsequent current quench. The models developed are based on logarithmic flux functions for circular cross-section and on sheath boundary layer losses. |
