Popis: A computer program for selective location of mass spectra of chlorinated compounds in mixtures and complex sample matrices has been developed for the HP 5970 mass-selective detector. The chlorine-selective detector produces new total chlorine chromatograms (TCICs) from the original total ion chromatograms (TICs). The TCICs are of the same data format as the TICs and are fully available for the system software. The performance of the chlorine-selective detector has been evaluated by analysing a mixture of 56 chlorinated alkylbenzenes and an oil fraction spiked with the same mixture. In the pure mixture all 56 compounds were recognized, while 46 of the compounds were recognized in the oil matrix.
