Popis: A device for tethered-flight studies based on the principle that insects displace air during flight is described. A microphone, placed directly behind a flying insect, transmits an oscillating signal that is converted to a continuous pulse by a dual monostable multivibrator. Uses of this method for monitoring static flight activity are discussed.
