Popis: | Plane strain ring rolling is analysed by the rigid-plastic finite element method. The idle rotation of the pressure roll is taken into account in the formulation by taking the peripheral velocity of the pressure roll as an unknown variable of the functional. The velocity field in the deforming material and the external forces along the contact surfaces are obtained. The strain rate distributions, roll separating force, driven roll torque and normal pressure distributions are then computed. The validity of the method is checked by comparing the computed results with experimental observations. It is then shown that the computed roll separating forces and the patterns of the normal pressure distributions along the roll-ring interfaces are in good agreement with the experimental results. |
