Popis: | The debate continues as to whether pulmonary artery (PA) catheters should be routinely used in patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. We feel that PA catheters should be used only selectively in patients undergoing routine CABG, although there are certain subsets of patients who would benefit, i.e., those with ventricular dysfunction or abnormal wall motion. Generally speaking, the risks of PA catheters outweigh the value of the information gained and should not be used as part of the “CABG protocol.” |
