Popis: | In irradiated animals, the recovery of the hematological elements was the same, whether it is spontaneous or it is induced by isologous protection. There is, however, a difference in the time that the cellular restoration is first noted. Myeloid restoration is similar in isologously and homologously protected animals; a striking difference, however, exists between the two combinations, because at no time during the postirradiation period is there a lymphocytic repopulation in the homologously protected animals. Recovery, therefore, in the sense of restoration of the hematologic condition modified by the irradiation, does not take place in irradiated animals protected with homologous bone marrow and spleen cells. There is an x-irradiation threshold for the induction of the homologous disease. This thresho1d determines the type of hematological recovery in mice irradiated and protected with homologous bone marrow. (auth) |
