Popis: |
The highly ordered and complex arrangement of cardiac myofibers produces an angle dependence or anisotropy of ultrasonic scattering. The extent to which the magnitude of anisotropy may depend on the particular view used for insonification of the heart has not been determined. The transmural dependence of integrated backscatter (IB) on myofiber angle in vitro in sections of myocardial tissue is measured from two orthogonal directions. Ultrasonic anisotropy in vivo is characterized in volunteer patients with a method known as lateral gain compensation, which permits compensation for anisotropy in clinical echocardiography images. > |
