Popis: In the current Venezuelan context, media education has ups and downs. On the one hand, there is a normative framework that supports it and a great amount of good practices and solid training programs, of quality and with a broad trajectory, which account for their good health. On the other hand, we see that the governmental initiatives for their promotion, support and consolidation are unsystematic, disjointed and inefficient in addition to being interfered with by the propaganda action of the political regime that prevails in the country. This paper shows the context in which media education is developed in the country, in order to provide clues to understand why, even when there are conditions for its optimal development, it persists in the midst of contradictions.
