Popis: We studied the functions of the catecholamine system and behavioral changes in two generations of the offspring from male rats that were subjected to long-term alcohol intoxication. In this model, 10% ethanol was available for rats as the only source of fluid for 90 days. Mating was allowed during the period of 1 month after the end of alcohol intoxication. Control male rats received water. We found that two generations of the offspring from the parents that were exposed to alcohol exhibited changes in the brain catecholamine system and behavior. These changes were more expressed in the F2 descendants from the males that were allowed to mate 1 month after the end of alcohol intoxication. These data may be used for improved understanding of the molecular mechanisms of the effects of paternal alcoholism on offspring.
