In normoxic mammals natriuresis due to the stimulation of peripheral arterial chemoreceptors is a well documented phenomenon (Honig, 1983; Honig et al., 1985; Honig, 1989). This could be shown in different laboratory animals using various methods of chemoreceptor stimulation (Ullmann, 1961; Fischer et al., 1969; Flemming et al., 1976; Alward et al., 1978; Meerson et al., 1980; Walker, 1982; Gotshall et al., 1983; Bardsley and Suggett, 1987) and also in humans (Ledderhos et al., 1987; Koller et al., 1989). |
