Fabrication and magnetorheological property of nano-sized magnetic particles

Popis: Magnetorheological (MR) fluid, a suspension of synthesized nano-sized magnetic particle in non magnetic carrier fluid, was prepared and then their various characteristics were examined in this study. Magnetic particle was at first synthesized in a rather simple process of decomposition of penta carbonyl iron (Fe(CO) 5 ) using oleyl amine and kerosene. Magnetic property and morphology of the synthesized nanoparticle were confirmed via vibration sample magnetometer (VSM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. MR fluid of nano-sized magnetic particle dispersed in a carrier fluid, was investigated under different external magnetic field strengths via a rotational rheometer. Their flow behaviors at a steady shear mode were examined under magnetic field strength.
