Popis: the object of this work was to study the flat contact heating caused by the continuous current. The current heating study was to determine the constant temperature increments of individual elements of the test high current electric contact. At the same time, in the case of the test electric contact, also in determining whether the measured temperature increments during the flow of rated current do not exceed the limit values laid down by the relevant standards. The research started with a field analysis. The tests were carried out using the ANSYS environment. It is a tool developed for over 40 years that enables modelling and analysing objects using the finite element method. It consists of many software solutions tailored to the needs of the selected simulation. The ANSYS Mechanical Simulation Software was applied to carry out the thermal-electrical analysis. It has all the necessary features to represent the actual physical values in the research. The aim of this study was to raise the problem of the optimal parameter selection of the high current flat formation at which the energy transfer would take place with the greatest efficiency. The physical quantity that has been taken into special consideration in the analysis of different shapes was the temperature - and the distribution of its value in the area of the contact system. The research included in this study may contribute to a better understanding of the phenomena of electricity in conductors, for transmitting high power. An integral part of the flow of electric current is generation of heat. The paper therefore focused in particular on the temperature distribution and the knowledge of the phenomena on which it depends.
