In the BEPC 4W1A station, synchrotron radiation has been used to induce X-ray fluorescence for measuring the concentration of elements in various materials, including biomedical samples. In this paper we present the 2D distribution map of platinum in liver slices of normal mice after Cisplatin treatment, and the correlation of the concentrations of the measured elements by mini-SXRF. The results show a positive correlation of the Fe concentration to those of Zn and Cu, and a positive relation of P to S in different points (150 × 150 μm 2 ) of the liver slice. In order to obtain more information, the same sample has also been measured by micro-PIXE at Fudan University. The possibilities and limitations of the two probes for analyzing biomedical samples are discussed. |
