Toys are terrific! Everyone loves them—kids and adults alike. What makes it even better is that toys are actually good for preschoolers. While they are having fun, children are learning about the world, and their place in it, and they are growing physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Tricycles and balls, for example, help develop gross motor skills; puzzles promote problem solving and finger dexterity. Creativity is spurred with crayons and clay; imagination and role playing flourish when children play with dolls. Matching games help improve memory and concentration, while group play teaches about sharing and getting along with others. And the list goes on. Since play is so vital to development, it is often called “child’s work,” and toys, “the tools for learning.” |
