Popis: The first ISO/ASTM joint standards were published in 2013 thanks to the Partner Standards Development Organization (PSDO) agreement to develop only one set of additive manufacturing (AM) standards to be used all over the world. Since then, many experts in different fields of AM have carried out an intense work in the development of new standard documents that help the improvement of countless aspects relating to manufacturing. These include the quality of the manufactured parts with standards aimed at the design of parts for AM, requirements to supply to third parties, the testing procedures, and how to achieve reliable and reproducible processes. Not only the different technologies are covered by the standards, but also the diverse materials used in AM (plastics, composites, metals, ceramics, etc.), as well as many industrial sectors that have adopted the AM as a manufacturing process. Other topics such as fundamentals and vocabularies or environmental issues are also considered. As evidence of the major significance of this subject, the European standardization committee on additive manufacturing CEN TC438 was also constituted, to ensure consistency and harmonization with international standards, by applying as far as possible the Vienna agreement with ISO/TC 261 “Additive Manufacturing” committee. This chapter first presents an update of the existing structure of the AM standardization working groups and their liaisons with other relevant committees. A second section refers to the impact of AM standards, showing how the standard referencing is an indication of its increasingly potential use in the industry.
